How the blockage is assessed

The provider needs to establish where the obstruction is before choosing a clearance method. Ask whether the quoted charge includes the proposed equipment, and whether investigation or a drain survey would be a separate cost. Do not assume every blocked sink needs a camera survey or extensive drain work.

While waiting for help

Stop using a fixture that is overflowing. Avoid contact with wastewater, and keep children and pets away from the area. Do not mix drain-cleaning chemicals. Tell the attending provider about any chemicals used before they start work.
